The Puppeteer

Judith Hope

As part of our evolving artisan series we were priviledged to be invited into the studio of puppeteer Judith Hope.

Judith works in a small studio in Deptford, packed to the rafters with curious objects and unusual odds and ends. Her materials themselves often have their own stories to tell, being sourced from flea markets or found on the streets, and that’s before they take on a new life as one of her creations.

Her work can be found on the stages of theatres, spotted in advertising, or seen walking around the fields of festivals. It was incredible to see the wide variety of work she produces from such a compact space. Be sure to check out here website here.
